Pricing for both setups
Credit costs the practice nothing. Debit is quoted per practice.
Credit: nothing to the practice
When a patient pays with a credit card, a 3% fee is added to their total, and that fee covers the practice's card processing cost.
Debit: quoted per practice
Debit is never surcharged. We quote debit after a free statement review. Dual pricing and interchange plus are also available, quoted from your real statement.
Surcharge rules vary by state, and we check yours before setup. Visa caps surcharges at 3%. Summit Health Pay and Summit Cloud POS send receipts by text or email, so there's no printing at the front desk.

Compliance
The part most processors get wrong.
Surcharging is legal. Doing it incorrectly is what gets a practice fined. We set it up so it holds.
The credit surcharge is capped
A surcharge can never exceed what card processing costs you. We set the rate against your real cost and keep it there.
Debit and HSA are never surcharged
Debit, HSA and FSA cards, cash, and checks carry no added fee. Patients always have a way to pay that costs them nothing extra.
Cash discount is not a synonym
Some processors add about 4% to credit and debit alike and call it a cash discount. It is a different program with different rules, and it risks card brand fines.
Card data is replaced with a token the moment it is entered, so patient card numbers never land in your systems or ours. Summit handles compliant signage, card brand notification, and ongoing monitoring.
